    Real Sugar

    REAL SUGAR

                                   f.t.talton/Corrina Jo Music/ASCAP

Sittin’ here thinkin’, what should I eat?

What should I put on my plate?

    Is that paradoxine hydrochloride

    or is it mononitrate?

I can’t believe what I read at the grocery store

I can’t pronounce the words on the label

Nobody knows when the real thing changed

But, I won’t stand for that stuff on my table

I want real sugar, I don’t want none of that other

I want real bread with real butter

Sho nuff stuff, no messin’ round

I don’t want my real world watered down

Help me understand, help me make some sense of it

My head is shaking and it’s starting to ache

My eyes are burning, there’s ringing in my ears

I won’t eat nothin’ that lasts a hundred years

I want real sugar, I don’t want none of that other

I want real bread with real butter

Sho nuff stuff, no messin’ round

I don’t want my real world watered down

What should I, what can I, what will I eat?

The list gets shorter every day, every week

High fructose corn syrup, yellow #5

    Polysorbate 60, genetically modified

    I want real sugar, I…sugar,

    Unadulterated, granulated sugar

    T. Talton…vocals, electric rhythm guitar/ Kelvin Holly…wah-wah guitar

    Billy Earheart…electric piano/ David Hood…bass/ Bill Stewart…drums

    Brad Guin…sax/ Ken Watters…trumpet

Recorded: July 18, 2014 @ Gintown Studio, Graysville, Al.

    Distant Light

    DISTANT LIGHT

                                                    f.t.talton/Corrina Jo Music/ASCAP

I can see it in the distance

A guiding light, a light I’ve always seen

It has shown me where I’m going

And it has shown me where I used to be

For so long I had no clue

But, now I see, that distant light is you

Brightly shining, like the sun glares

Sometimes glowing, like the moon we share

It keeps me moving in forward motion

It’s like sailing an endless ocean

Now I know what I never knew

Yes, now I know that distant light is you

Carry me away, take me every day and night

Show me how to love like you

    I do believe it’s right

And I believe you are that distant light

I can see it in the distance

A guiding light, a light I’ve always seen

For so long I had no clue

But, now I see that distant light is you

Yes, now I see that distant light is you

    My, O, My

    My, O, My

                                 F.t.talton/Corrina Jo Music/ASCAP

    My, O, My,

Nothin’ but lazy sky, nothin’ but,

You and I floating in the blue

My, O, My, nothin’ but you and I

    Day is done,

    Living life, two as one

    Living life, you and I

    Spinning round the sun

    Day is done

    Living life two as one

    My, O, My,

Nothin’ but lazy sky, nothin’ but,

You and I floating in the blue

My, O, My, nothin’ but me and you

My, O, My, nothin’ but lazy sky

    Day is done

    Living life two as one

NOTES
This is Tommy Talton’s fourth release from Hittin’ the Note Records. He is at his finest when reflecting on life, love and social issues. As a wordsmith his lyrics are as timeless as the melodies he creates. As a guitarist he has an exquisite sound that is totally his own. While many of his songs go deep and are reflective, he is not above bawdy humor on occasion. Listen to the lyrics well and …

    Where Is the World?

                                  WHERE IS THE WORLD?

                                                                                          f.t. talton

today I woke up with a moan

‘cause I tossed and turned all night

    I don’t think that I’m alone

Somethin’ just don’t feel quite right

I can feel it in my bones

    Like we need another start

Like the winds are blowing stronger

    And they’re tearing us apart

Where is the world that we used to know?

The world that was turning with a heart and soul

I can feel it in our hearts

I can see it in our eyes

I can hear in the words we speak

When did truth become a lie?

Where is the world that we used to know?

The world that was turning with a heart and soul

NOTES
Attending Tommy Talton's live shows recently has been quite like visiting a community garden every week or so, just to see what has popped up out of the ground. He has germinated, nurtured, and developed some of the finest music of his 45 year career during the past year. Talton has obviously given considerable thought to "Let's Get Outta Here," and the songs that distinguished themselves enough to be included on this CD. The notes and …
